NEW: All Timing Packages purchased from SPS include a FREE Magnetic Omni Directional Antenna AND USB Computer Cable
Wireless convenience
- No cables to connect to the electric eyes.
- No power connections to the electric eyes or the timing console.
- Set up and tear down in just minutes. All equipment, including the tripods, fits inside a custom made carrying case.
- Standard system has approximately 200-300ft of range between the console and start or finish lines. This can be reduced by obstacles in between and the console being inside a trailer or vehicle. For the best results, we recommend adding the optional Omni directional console side antenna which gets the antenna further off the ground, and outside the timing vehicle.
- Adding the directional Yaggi style antennas on either the start and or finish lines adds considerably to the range, typically allowing 500-600 feet or more.
- Remember, these distances aren't the total size of your site, but rather between the console and the eyes. A typical autocross site would have the T&S vehicle fairly close to the start line and further away from the finish, so you may only need one directional antenna. Even on a large site (like Lincoln for the Solo Nationals), the T&S vehicle ends up centered between the start and finish lines, each within several hundred feet of the console.
Long range, through-beam, wireless electric eyes
- Very easy to align - just roughly eyeball the alignment.
- No vehicle color or reflectivity issues as with retro-reflective sensors.
- With a 200 foot optical range between the pair, the electric eyes can be placed well off the course to reduce the chance of getting hit by a vehicle.
- With over 25 years of photo-sensor design experience, we custom engineered our electric eyes for the tough accuracy requirements, lighting conditions, and range requirements of sport timing applications.
Full featured timing
- Time up to seven vehicles at once (autocross mode).
- Time up to 99 consecutive laps and recall the times later (lap mode).
- Hands free operation – no need to reset or clear the timer between runs. Also has manual start, stop and reset start and reset finish functions to facilitate T&S issue corrections without re-runs!
- Additional electric eyes can be added to record split times.
- Spectator displays are available separately.
- Can interface with popular software packages for record keeping - USB cable included FREE with package purchase!
- Can drive some other brands of spectator displays (scoreboards) – contact us for details.

Material Selection Guide
We offer 4 materials for our numbers, letters and panel numbers: Magnetic, Reusable Vinyl, Permanent Vinyl and Static Cling. They are designed for use on different types of cars and for different kinds of use
Magnetic
Magnetic material is the most durable removable product we sell. It works well for application on steel bodied cars at speeds generally below 70 MPH. It can be used for higher speeds, but may have a tendency to blow off. We recommend testing to see if your car is magnetic using a fridge magnet or something similar prior to ordering.
PROS:
- Durable
- Lasts decades.
- Easy to clean
CONS:
- Can lose flexibility in cold weather (should be put on hood in sunlight to warm up when using at events under 45 degrees)
- Limited to approximately 70mph. If using at speeds higher than this, it is recommended to apply a small piece of tape to the leading edge to avoid blowing off.
- Does not adhere to fiberglass, plastic, glass, or aluminum
Reusable Vinyl
SOLOTIME reusable vinyl products allow you to apply temporary numbers to your car and reuse them event after event. The material is extra thick* which helps prevent tearing or stretching the numbers when they are removed.
The low tack adhesive numbers come on a paper backing that allows you to store them between events.
PROS:
- Adheres to any smooth surface (including windows)
- Will stay on at any speed.
- Works in any temperature.
CONS:
- Must be put back on backing paper in between uses.
- Must be put on a clean car and adhesive must be kept clean.
- Typical users get between 6-18 uses.
* about 8-12mils, compared to 2-3 for a regular decal.
Permanent Vinyl
Click to see the installation instructions for this material
"Permanent" vinyl material is your typical vinyl that any pre made decal or sticker would be made with. It can be removed, but will be destroyed in the process of removal. The permanent vinyl is a high quality 5-7 year rated outdoor material.
PROS:
- Very long lasting.
- Will stay on at any speed.
CONS:
- Cannot be removed without destroying
Static Cling
Click for the static cling installation instructions.
SOLOTIME static cling products are autocross tested and work well for low speed events. These products cling to most smooth surfaces, such as fiberglass, plastic, steel, or aluminum. They even cling to glass!
Each static cling number or letter comes with a special paper backing that keeps them ready for the next autocross event. Note: Please test these numbers on your vehicle before you use them at a racing event.
Unlike strong magnets or adhesives, static cling products may blow off your vehicle during unusual racing or weather conditions. We recommend that you order extra numbers as a precaution.
- Inexpensive
- Works on any smooth surface
CONS:
- Must be applied very carefully.
- Comes in white only and is not available as a base for panel/meatball numbers.
- May come off during wet events.
